100 Day Project Play

March 30, 2021

This is my third year doing the 100 Day Project. These past few years I’ve been venturing out from just scrapbooking and trying out paint, gelli printing, bookmaking, and art journaling. I’m not a skilled artist in this regard, but I like the variation from my usual crafts and thoughts for this year’s 100 Day Project Play I’d make painted backgrounds with inspirational quotes. I still love scrapbooking, but I find myself wrestling with wanting a new way to incorporate scrapbooking with the ability to add paint and collage and other elements.

Acrylic paint, stamps, and an old credit card to move the paint around are my general tools, along with some brushes, paint markers and found objects like sponges or bottle caps to make some marks. I’d like to get better at mark making so that the layers all merge together more. But that’s what this project is for – to make you practice.

Here’s a sampling of what I’ve been doing during 100 Day Project Play. I’m working in a square Dylusions album for mixed media and I like the heavy weight paper and smooth surface. I hunt around on Pinterest for quotes or some I’ve created myself. I think this will be a nice collection to look back on all together in a journal. And hopefully by the last one my lettering and my paintings skills will improve. That’s the whole idea right?

Daily art practice and play is really important for me these days. I’m very fortunate to be able to spend time in my craft room doing creative things. You can see more on instagram. And check out my 100 Day Project 2020 and 100 Day Project 2019.
