It’s the day to celebrate love and today I’m sharing the handmade Valentine cards I made this year.
First, I found the altered art in HudsonsHolidays Shop on ETSY, which inspired my cards. I just love altered art, and the fun sayings and vintage photos always make for a great project.
The cards came together very quick. I cut white card stock into 4″x6″ pieces. Next, I clipped the top corners and punched a hole to resemble a tag. Then, I used Washi Tape to attach two pieces together to make a foldable card. That’s it!
On the inside, I decorated the cards with stickers, doilies, stamping, and painting. Because I’ve been doing more painting lately, I added a touch of paint to one of the cards. On the card below, I did the watercolor background first, and ripped it out of the paper to get that rough white edge around it. The final step was stamping the message on top. The piece was adhered to the card with a little pop dot underneath.
This last Valentine uses an image transfer for the little circle embellishment. I had some scrapbook paper with a roses design, but I wanted it to be black and white, so I made a laser copy of it in black and white, and then did an image transfer to packing tape and mounted it to some cardstock. Fun process. The blank area in each card is where I’ll write my personal message to my loved ones.
So, there you have it – my Valentines. Fun to do and easy!
Happy Valentine’s Day.
