Project Life Memories 2018

May 25, 2018

Happy Friday!

In 2017 I took a break from Project Life scrapbooking to do monthly mini albums. It was a nice diversion but I am back to Project Life this year. Some years I make a spread a week, sometimes just page a week. This year I am adding pages by the month and just letting the pages flow depending on the quantity of photos I have.

Sometimes I have tons to journal in my Project Life pages and sometimes its mostly photos. I fill pockets with pretty stuff and I add stickers to photos. Even though I subscribe to a couple kit collections, I tend to use the elements here and there rather than sticking to one collection. I don’t really set out to do that, it just seems to happen. And I do still sneak in my dimensional embellishments…it’s just who I am.

Here’s a spread I worked on this week – our family journey of my husband’s cancer surgery.

Project Life 2018In the midst of something nerve racking and scary were also wonderful warm times together. Quiet times to just “be” and enjoy each other’s company. Simple dinners and down times at the hotel. There were funny weird times, too. Like the two fire alarms in the middle of the night at the hotel (and the crazy outfits we threw on to make it outside fast).  There was gratitude for the ability to find amazing care. There was thankfulness for the support of my friends and family. And there was even a trip to my favorite scrapbook store nearby when I had a couple hours to venture out.

One thing I’ve been better at lately is playing with my supplies in a new way, like this card that is a collection of hearts. There are a couple I cut from watercolor-painted vellum that I made. There’s also one heart I cut after placing a bunch of washi tape strips together to cover the paper in colorful patterns. Combined with a simple paper-punched heart and a couple dimensional ones from my stash, and it makes a really pretty, layered look.
