Paper Bead Bracelets

April 6, 2018

This week paper bead bracelets were my contribution to a spring break craft day for kids 7 – 13 years old at Chameleon Soul Gallery in Melbourne, FL. Such a fun day of creativity!

Paper Bead Bracelets

I recently made my first paper bead bracelet in the art therapy room at Moffitt Cancer Center. The art room is a lovely space that makes my time there during my husband’s treatment more uplifting. In just a few minutes this fun piece of jewelry was created and I really enjoyed it. So I decided to share this easy, fun craft with the kids. Every time I wear my bracelet I get comments on it because people are so surprised the beads are made with paper.

The process is really pretty simple. Paper is cut into triangular strips and then rolled from the wide end to the small tapered end. I notice online there are many ways to cut the paper to get different shapes of beads so when I get more experienced I can branch out. There are countless tutorials online for making beads both on Pinterest and YouTube. Here are the kids creations!

Next – Unicorn Spit Painting!

We then moved on to painting with Unicorn Spit and Stain. Mary Daugherty, owner of the Chameleon Soul Gallery, gives furniture new life with this fun and unique product and teaches classes on how to use it in different projects. The girls had fun making paper projects, wood plaques and even a small mini canvas.

It’s always fun to explore new ways to be creative. We enjoyed having the girls try our projects and think their smiling faces reveal they had a good time!
