This year, my daughter and I spent an evening helping one of our local police departments with the Toys for Tots gift drive. We joined other volunteers to organize, sort and pack bags of toys for less fortunate families. With information about the children including age, hobbies, wishes, etc., we “shopped” the supply of toys, games and clothes to find items the children would love.
After instructions, we got to work filling the bags. And, what fun it was to play Santa! Plus, Laughter, holiday music, pizza, cookies, and holiday spirit made for a fun evening. We were also happy to run into some friends at the event. We worked in groups to decide on the toys for each family, remembering what we liked to receive as children.
It didn’t take long to end up with a mound of bags, bikes, and gifts ready for Santa to deliver.
The next day we spotted Santa himself, ready for his upcoming night of magic. Looks like he’s updating his transportation, don’t you think?
Have a very Merry Christmas.
