After several years of doing traditional Project Life albums, this year I’m switching it up and doing monthly mini albums to collect our photos and stories. I make these by hand, just collecting a selection of favorite papers and stitching them together with waxed thread. The process of picking papers that blend together well is fun, as well as challenging myself to stick to my stash without buying anything new. I make the pages different sizes on the inside, mixing and matching tags and other elements – whatever hits me in the moment. Here are the first three monthly mini albums.
Some of my interior pages might give you some ideas for a mini album.
Another thing I am doing different this year in my albums is including current events and info about what’s going on in the world. I think it will be fun for my kids to look back on events that happened when they get older.
I’m trying to get a little more “multi-media” too by using paints and inks and other materials. I wish I had more fine art talent, but its still fun to play and explore.
Here is my process for making a stitched album if you want to make one.
