One of the best parts of the holiday season is getting together with friends to celebrate what a great thing friendship is. For the past 18 months, I’ve hung out with a super group of gals in book club. We don’t have an official club name or take things too seriously. We just share a love of reading, laughing, and growing friendship (and okay, having good wine). Last night, we got together for a holiday cocktail party.
It was fun to bring the spouses together at the party and get to know them better. We had a table of our favorite party foods and each of us brought supplies to make our own signature cocktail. I don’t know about the other girls, but I spent some time on Pinterest looking at recipes. I decided on a Pomegranate Champagne cocktail.
WOW were the cocktails and food outstanding! Shrimp, dips, meatballs, fancy cheese towers, decadent sweets, fruit, and veges. The cocktails were a hit, too:
- Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail with blood orange Vodka and Cointreau
- Amaretto Champagne Cocktail with Pomegranate Anvils
- Moscow Mule with Vodka, ginger beer and lime juice
- A cocktail hailed as George Clooney’s favorite with Champagne, Elderberry Liquor, and passion fruit
- Champagne with Chambord, raspberries and a sprig of Rosemary
Eventually the evening took a turn to holiday karaoke. From Pretty Woman, Lola and Love Shack, a select group of brave souls grabbed a microphone and belted out a tune. In the spirit of good karaoke, we had some bad notes and missed words that led to tons of laughter. I haven’t had a karaoke night in forever and it was pretty fun. I’m so glad to have such nice friends who enjoy simple moments like these.
The sense of humor of our lovely hostess can be seen by a couple items in her powder room. This soap cracked me up and her coastal-inspired holiday crocodile decoration is full of whimsy. Thanks Tracy!
